After the wise decision to not take part in the Giro d'Italia, I decided to head back to Sweden. Last time I was up here was in January, so it was about time I got to see my family and friends. It's been great riding up here so far, and I am also taking the opportunity to ride some mtb as well...

I will again, just like the last two years, not be participating in the Giro d'Italia. The decision was taken mutually by me and the team, simply because I am not in the condition I would need to be. The Tour de Romandie was great for me, especially as a measuring tool to see how my level was....

Fredrik Kessiakoff 04/28/12

There are now two more stages remaining in this years Tour de Romandie. Today is the "kings stage", with three category one climbs to conquer. Still taking it day by day, and so far so good.

Fredrik Kessiakoff 04/27/12

Second stage on the third day has now passed and I'm still feeling ok. I'm still being dropped in the final of the stages, but I am not lightyears away from where I would like to be. Today another not so easy stage with several climbs, another day of working my way back into shape.

Fredrik Kessiakoff 04/25/12

The first real stage was 183 km long, with several climbs and a total climbing elevation of 2800m. I am happy to report that I am still feeling good, although I still have to point out that I know that I am behind with my preparations. What's important during this race is to see how I cope with...

Fredrik Kessiakoff 04/25/12

First stage here at the Tour de Romandie done. It was a 3 km individual prologue, with only one corner where you had to brake. I felt good compared to the last few months, and finishing in 63rd position is something I am ok with. Today we have a 180km stage, again for me another day to see how...

Fredrik Kessiakoff 04/22/12

After a few days of feeling much better since starting my allergy treatment, I together with the team have decided to start the Tour de Romandie. Depending on my performance and sensations there, we will then decide whether I will take part of the Giro d'Italia or not. Although I feel a big...

Fredrik Kessiakoff 04/19/12

Before going to Tenerife I did a blood test to make sure all my blood levels were good. I also did an allergy test, just to be able to exclude that this could be something which was causing my lack of energy these last few weeks. During my stay in Tenerife my test results came back. Blood levels...

Until now I have been alone here on Teide, but today I get company from good friend Gustav Larsson. It will be good to get some company on the rides, although these last few days have been good for me to ride alone. I am still suffering with my breathing from my illness, so keeping the intensity...

Fredrik Kessiakoff 04/09/12

Life is very simple up here on Teide. It's all about the job, there's nothing else to do except train, eat and recover. I'm still not feeling 100% recovered from my illness, so the combination of that and the fact that I'm in altitude means that I have to hold back these first days up here. Now...

Fredrik Kessiakoff 04/08/12

So I'm back on Tenerife again. After my illness the climb back up to the hotel on my ride today wasn't pleasant, but in a few days or so when I'm better adapted to the thin air, I hope I'll feel better. Weather is surprisingly similar to January and February when I was here, I thought it would...

Fredrik Kessiakoff 04/06/12

After getting some well needed rest I am now feeling better and have already made a new plan to arrive at the Giro as strong as possible. Tomorrow, Saturday the 7th I will leave to Tenerife and stay there for two weeks before heading direct to Geneva, for the Tour de Romandie. I am still nervous...

Fredrik Kessiakoff 03/30/12

Since Coppi e Bartali I have been feeling really bad, with a sore throat and hurting muscles so I have decided to take a little break to get well and then make a new plan for the coming weeks. Most likely my next race will be Tour de Romandie.

A few weeks back I did a...

Fredrik Kessiakoff 03/22/12

It's great being at the races, having everything taken cared of and just allowing me to focus solely on racing and recovering. It's also why I'm happy doing a race, rather than just being at home with all distractions and "musts" in normal life. Even more now, as I'm looking for my "good legs"....

Fredrik Kessiakoff 03/21/12

I think the race "Coppi e Bartali" I'm doing at the moment is the perfect way towards finding my form. It's hard enough to get good "training/race" sessions, but not too hard to break me down too much. Two days and three stages have now passed, today with a 100km stage in the morning and then a...

Fredrik Kessiakoff 03/20/12

Time again for another race, this time Coppi e Bartali. Again I'm in Italy, on the coast of the Adriatic sea, almost where we had the last TT of the Tirreno-Adriatico. I have taken it real easy the last few days just like i had planned. Still feel like I'm not one hundred percent yet, but I'm...

Fredrik Kessiakoff 03/17/12

Was great to come home again after Tirreno-Adriatico, the only downside with ending the race was the long trip back home. This week the only thing I have on my schedule is recovery, as I definitely am in need of it. Next race will be Coppi e Bartoli.

Fredrik Kessiakoff 03/12/12

It sure was disappointing yesterday, not being able to follow the front group on the final climb of the day. Already 160kms into the race, with almost 40kms remaining, I felt how my energy levels were way too low to keep pushing on. Instead the final climb was spent in a "groupetto", trying to...

Fredrik Kessiakoff 03/10/12

250kms and almost seven and a half hours of racing was what today had to offer. The final was a climb of about one kilometer and my legs felt good considering how I felt only days ago. I am now 11th overall, although tomorrow will be another even harder final. But more on that tomorrow.

Fredrik Kessiakoff 03/09/12

There have now been three stages here in the Tirreno-Adriatico, and things are going ok. First stage was a TTT, where I normally feel I should be an asset to the team. This time however I was more holding on than actually pulling, but we managed to do a descent result, ending up 5th best team....

Fredrik Kessiakoff 03/05/12

On the day ten years ago whilst out training not far away from where I am now, a life changing accident occurred. Together with my then current team, Team Crescent, as we were taking a left onto a bigger road, disaster struck as a car came much faster than we had expected, hitting one of my team...

Fredrik Kessiakoff 03/04/12

First of all I have to admit that I'm still disappointed with my performance yesterday. I was really expecting a different outcome of the race, but I guess it just confirms that sport isn't always an exact science. Anyway, had a nice recovery ride today here in San Vincenzo. Also reminded me...

Fredrik Kessiakoff 03/03/12

Todays race "Strade Bianche" did not become the race I was hoping for. With bad legs and a body not feeling 100%, I knew after half race that I would not be able to achieve the result or performance I was hoping for today. Instead, with about 60km remaining and entering one of the crucial gravel...

Fredrik Kessiakoff 03/02/12

It's been good being home a few days, resting and spending time with my girlfriend. It did come at a price though, my time and motivation for writing here on my website has suffered. But I am now recharged and ready to go for some more updating. Tomorrow I will race "Strade Bianche", a 190km...

Fredrik Kessiakoff 02/27/12

Third race of the year done, this time the 185km long Clasica de Almeria. It's a sprinters race, as the last "climb" is far from the finish and only about a kilometer long. We did however try to drop some of the pure sprinters on one of the earlier climbs, with some success. We spent a lot of...
