SILVA NPD TESTING A NEW LAMP IN WINTER CONDITIONS

Working with product development means you have the opportunity to test the products on a regular basis. Yesterday evening I went out for a bike ride with the new Runner headlamp, that will be in stores this fall.
Since I don´t do running I mounted it on my bike instead. I went out on the dark streets of Stockholm (well, we do have street lights here, but pretty dark…). I haven´t been riding for some weeks now, and my last ride was together with Silva ambassadors Fredrik Kessiakoff and Calle Friberg, the day before Fredrik went back home to Monaco. We did a 4,5 h ride in quite good weather. Yesterday the weather was completely different...
Those of you following Fredrik Kessiakoffs blog knows that he had some rain on his training camp with the Astana team on Tenerife. Well, I don´t feel sorry for Fredrik for that. I would gladly ride in some rain on Tenerife. Instead I had to struggle to stay on the bike in the snow and occasionally fight with cars trying to force me out in the ditch. There was also an old Volvo, that in Swedish could be referred to as a “Volvo-raggare”, passing me with the window down, screaming “USE THE BIKE LANE!!!”. Well noted, thanks.
Back to the lamp I was using, one of our new lamps Runner. The compact size is amazing, and the light output is really good. Riding in the dark certainly adds a dimension to the riding and it´s really fun. The lamp is equipped with Intelligent Light and has a small and lightweight Li-Ion battery. Overall a great lamp. Keep your eyes open for Runner this fall.
