Calle Friberg Blog: Started 2012 with XC-Ski and some biking

I hope everyone´s Christmas and new years has been great. Mine has been really good with some really good XC-skiing in Älvdalen around Christmas, DH-skiing in Åre over new years and some proper bike riding when I got back to reality in Stockholm again.

XC-Ski in Älvdalen
One of the days in Älvdalen when I couldn´t make it out in time to ski in daylight I decided I´d just go anyway. And it was, especially with all the bright snow, amazingly lit up in front of me. Almost better than a normal running/skiing lit up track. On those tracks the lights only come every, maybe 50 meters, now I had perfect vision ALL the time. And a cool feeling of speed too.
In Älvdalen I also managed to squeeze in some training together with my friend Maria Rydqvist from the Swedish XC-Ski team. She of course made me suffer like a dog :) Since Silva is a partner of the Swedish XC-Ski team Maria and the rest also trains with Silva headlamps.
I also went running in the dark with the Sprint on some snowy forest roads. Worked really good. It sits superb on your head.

Biking in Stockholm with Kessiakoff, Magnus and Jojje
Then there´s been some cycling going on of course. No night rides but dark enough to turn on the Tyto safety lights. I´v been out riding with Fredrik Kessiakoff a couple times before he´ll leave the country for warmer conditions, and we both said; why havn´t we always had these Tyto, and in his case also an X-Trail Plus (he trains longer) on the handlebar. When you train in Sweden it is often dark, or gets dark during training. Either it´s in the early mornings or late afternoons you need to see and be seen. And a lot of times one gets caught in either one of those situations. On on of those rides Silva industrial designer Magnus also joined, aswell as Jojje from Kadens/Runners World.

And lastly the group training ride with 10 other guys turned out really good. Nice and sunny, not too cold. Thanks Henrik Öijer for the pics and the company.

Right now I´m just back from an evening run in Ursvik with my old friend Björn. Much more fun running singletrails with headlights than the lit up tracks. It was Björns first headlight run and he thought it was super fun!
