Calle Friberg: World Marathon Championships coming up!
Now I only have one race left this season – The World Marathon Championships in Ornan, France. I´ve done a a marathon world cup there back in 2008 and it´s quite rough and hilly. No alp-like climbs but still enough. It usually is the competition that makes it hard. The course is in most cases well enough.
My form is pretty good (I´m telling myself )and even though I havn´t raced such a hard marathon since Breck Epic in mid August, I´m motivated to perform well one last time this season. The race is on Sunday the 7/10. Follow me on my twitter(twitter/callefriberg) for updates.
The past couple of weeks I´ve trained hard and tried to prepare myself for this. I have also and raced Hammarby Hill XC, where Silva was present and showed products). In the race I flatted twice on the first out of 3 loops, while leading. To DNF is never good!
I took immediate revenge and won the ”Svealandsmästerskapen” the weekend after. Always something :-).
I also attended the Spcialized Demo Day at Hammarbybacken a couple weeks ago. Bad weather but a good turnout with happy MTB:ers trying different bikes.
Also went for a night ride last week, unfortuanately I got no picture from it but it was just as fun as I remembered! My friend the pro freeride skier Johan Jonsson, borrowed a Silva Sprint Plus from me for a few biking sessions in Stockholm. I think he got hooked It´s always fun when someone discovers how fun nightriding with a good headlamp is. The night picture is from his ride.
Then I have promised Jojje at Runner´s World to participate in Sickla Trail run. An evening trial run in the woods around Hammarbybacken. More about that later.
Now World Champs!
See you out there /Calle
