Sky Runner & Ski Mountaineer

What first began as a hobby has taken our friend Emelie all the way to the top of both mountains and podiums. She won gold in Trofeo China in 2016. In the Skimo World Championships she won gold 2016 and holds a silver medal from 2017. Her top results and solid-as-a-rock-mentality has turned her into a role model within the growing sports of sky running and ski mountaineering.

Track record
– 4 gold medals in the Sky Running Ultra Distance World Cup (2012-2015)
– 1 victory in the Ski Mountaineering World Cup (2015)
– Winner of the Skimo World Championships Vertical Race (2016)
– Silver medalist in the Skimo World Championships Vertical Race (2017)
– Female Record in conquering Mont Blanc, Matterhorn and Kebnekaise

Emelie's favourites

Favourite SILVA-product?
I’m super happy to be a part of the SILVA team. SILVA has been a well-known brand for me since I started with orienteering as a kid. I use Active XT when I’m out for a shorter run. The Trail Speed 2XT is my choice when it comes to longer runs or skiing – both downhill and cross-country.

Favourite destination in the world?
The mountains. It gives me a sense of freedom being in the mountains. There I can challenge myself: I can run as far as I want, climb the tops or just breath.

Favourite meal?
Lots and lots of veggies.

Emelie's training habits

How often do you train?
10-14 times per week.

What kind of training do you do?
Running, skiing, climbing, yoga and rehab.

What do you eat to boost yourself during your training?
I like nuts, chocolate and clif bars (Kit’s organic).

How do you train during the darker season?
I like to train in the dark. It’s only for a few months, and it’s a special feeling to put on the headlamp and go out there. For sure it can be a challenge, but it’s so rewarding. And with a headlamp, it works perfect!

What’s your favourite type of training?
Hm, so many! I love long days in the mountains, but also the hard and short interval sessions. It’s all about the contrats!

How do you prepare yourself before a competition?
When it comes to preparing myself foodwise, I eat everything! I try to be alone for some time to connect and rest my mind, otherwise nothing special.

Emelie as an sky runner and ski mountaineer

How come you started to run?
The freedom. And the happiness when experience what your body can achieve, and where it can take me.

Any advice to those who wants to start ultra running/sky running?
Don’t rush with distance and hours of training. Build and treat your body well so it can do amazing things in the long run.

Your best running memory so far?
My first long running tour which took me around Hurrungane massif in Norway.

What’s the most fun race for the happy beginner?
All skyraces actually. They have a super athmosphere.

What are your best running tips?
Make it as wonderful it can be. If you like it, you want to do more of it. And the more you do, the better you become.
